2009-2022, The University of Mary Washington
Teach two to three courses a semester in a variety of art disciplines to include Design Principles, Sculpture, Ceramics and Figurative Sculpture. Classes meet twice a week for 2-3 hours, in a 16-week semester. Weekly coaching and mentoring of undergraduate students providing feedback, lesson planning, curriculum support and evaluation of student work. Create media and materials to enhance instruction and retention of learning objectives. Deliver instruction and understanding of objectives and learning outcomes to diverse groups of students with consistent and high-quality instruction. Encourage students to think critically about the work they are creating, how that work fits into the field’s traditions and how their work should enhance or evolve the field’s future.

Responsible for managing and directing an arts education program that is accountable for $400k in earned revenue of a $3M yearly budget. Duties include hiring qualified arts educators for a variety of disciplines, managing a complex multi-classroom schedule, diverse personalities, payroll, accounting and classroom facilities upkeep and repair as needed. Additionally, search and write content for grants to support educational programming. Recently secured $197K in grant funding to support a new Military in the Arts Initiative through private health foundations, the VCA and the NEA.

Ceramics Instructor
2008-2021, The Workhouse Arts Center
Teach beginner to advanced techniques in ceramics to adults through continuing education and community level courses. Classes meet once a week for three hours for nine consecutive weeks per quarter. Topics vary from hand-building to wheel-throwing techniques.
